Early Bird
It was Christmas eve and my whole family was gathered around the fire. Jack, my
brother, was excited. He wanted to set his alarm and get up at five thirty a.m. to open his
presents. We made him promise he would not set his alarm. That night my family went to bed
with thoughts of Christmas in our heads. The next morning I woke up to a loud beep. The first
noise I heard was a loud “stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp” and one thought went through my
head; “Jack”. I heard a door slam and Jack screamed in a jolly tone, “It’s Christmas!”. I rolled
over and looked at my clock and in it’s glowing green digits it read five thirty a.m. I rolled my
eyes and with a huff I put my feet on my soft carpet. When I arrived in my parents room, we all
started lecturing Jack about setting his alarm. After a small fight, I tried to fall asleep while my
brother complained about how we weren’t opening presents yet. We finally gave in at six thirty
and opened the gifts. Even though I had to wake up early I still had a lot of fun. That Christmas I
learned that no matter how much my family annoys me I will always love them.
